7. Producers originally wanted Dave Foley to play the role of Tom Clark for the comedy special, but Tom insisted it would be best if he performed since it was his comedy special. 

6. Tom was labeled a rebel in Hollywood due to his decision to shoot his special independently and was called out by Hollywood for his decision.  Tom didn't care because he doesn't follow the rules...except in Scrabble--NO PROPER NOUNS, NO ABBREVIATIONS!!

4. Tom's special was actually shot in 8 different locations, including France, Germany, England and Pacoima.  The audience, crew and backdrop were flown to each location causing the budget to balloon to just over one billion dollars.

His career was cut short when he started dressing as a clown while mowing the lawn, attending church and grocery shopping. Eventually he was asked by local officials to stop, thus ending his promising career.
